The Shop Solo

Dennis "The Shop" Le Clerc-Jude

The Shop (formerly Guitar Shop), a phrase coined by Marcus Roebuck and Louis Bragg of The Boogie Train Blues Band, Nelson.

Dennis “The Shop”, guitarist, vocalist, and general provider of equipment and stuff for Shuffle Shop.
Lover of The Blues, guitars, dogs, sunshine, calm seas, Coca Cola, olives, capsicums, Ducati, and a good syrah.

The Shop Solo Good-Time Blues performances are a quieter option to that of the whole band. Played on Washburn acoustic guitar, Crafter hybrid acoustic/electric, Gibson ES137 Custom electric, Gibson Les Paul, and a Fender resonator guitar. Shop also uses “Thumpa”, a small stage, 4 inches high with a tambourine and  microphone inside, primarily to provide percussion. Shop does not use any backing tracks or drum machines etc, but occasionally uses a looper and all material copied to the looper is played live during the performance. Much of the material is similar to Shuffle Shop Blues Band. Amplification ranges from a tiny 3 watt amp to a full PA system depending on the requirements of the client.

Artists covered include Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Howling Wolf, Kym Wilson, ZZ Top, Eric Clapton, Robert Johnson, Big Bill Broonzy, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, Cream, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Led Zepplin, and more. Several Jimi Hendrix songs grace the set list at solo gigs. They lend themselves to acoustic interpretation so well, fun to play and fun to listen to.

Performances range from quite and ambient to full-on party sound. The Shop is ideal for smaller venues such as dinner parties, small weddings and engagement parties, etc where a full band may take up more space than you wish.

The Shop is available for small to large private functions, bars, cafes, parties, weddings, etc. Please see contact page or call 027 444 5181.
